Free tutoring for children

with Dyslexia

Physiotherapist guiding two children through a sensory learning activity in a dyslexia-friendly classroom.

Multisensory structured literacy program

We offer one-on-one tutoring to children who struggle with reading, writing, and spelling due to dyslexia at no cost to the family.

Our goal is to help children read with skill and confidence — and feel proud of their progress.

How the program works

  • The full program typically runs for two-three years
  • Each session is 50 minutes
  • Tutoring is one-on-one, in a quiet, supportive space

Every child learns in their own way. That’s why we help step by step and adjust the tutoring to fit each child. We go at their pace so they can feel proud and keep getting better.

A proven approach

We use the Orton-Gillingham approach — a step-by-step way to teach reading and writing. It’s multi-sensory, which means children learn by seeing, hearing, and doing.

This program helps children understand and practice how letters, sounds, and words fit together.

Trained volunteer tutors

Our tutors are kind, caring volunteers. Each tutor receives intensive training in the Orton-Gillingham approach before working with students.

Tutors are matched with one child, and work together for the child’s full program. This helps build trust, confidence and steady progress.

Who can apply?

Our program is for children who:

  • Are between 6 and 14 years old
  • Have difficulty with reading, writing, or spelling
  • Have been formally identified with dyslexia
  • Have an individual psycho-educational assessment showing average or above average intellectual ability
  • Can attend two sessions per week after school
  • Are deemed by the Centre Director to be a good fit for the Orton-Gillingham approach

Each application is carefully reviewed to ensure the program is the right fit for your child’s needs.
